- Congratulations to our students
who have done us proud in the PSLE, GCE O level and GCE A
level examinations. Most of them have demonstrated the
ability to improve their grades through their own confidence
and determination. We would like to take this opportunity to
thank all our teachers, past and present, who have worked
selflessly in wanting to make a difference to the students’
performance. We would like to thank all the parents for
believing in us, and allowing us to participate in your
child's journey. Lastly, for the students, we salute you and
continue to believe in each and everyone as you scale for
higher heights and take on greater challenges in your life.

- Congratulations to our students
who have done us proud in the PSLE, GCE O level and GCE A
level examinations. At least 3/4
of our students have improved by 1 grade or more during
PSLE, and 2 grades or more during GCE O level and GCE A
level. Average grade improvement for each student in our
centre is from 2.5-3.9. We would continue to focus on
developing and implementing our curriculum in the 3 stages:
Exploration, Strengthening and Consolidation since
inception, and found them beneficial in gearing and
conditioning students to improve their assessment scores.

Parents up in arms over tough exams,
Straits Times Article
1st Jun 2008
Extract of the article:
SmartLab's chief executive Tony Tan, 38, sees about a 10 per
cent jump in enrolment after mid-terms every year. His
largest groups of students come from Primary 6, Secondary 4
and JC 2.........Tuition centres, too, said they had to
rebuild crushed egos. Said SmartLab's Mr Tan: 'It's good to
shake their confidence a bit but not to the extent where it
collapses. The objective of assessment should be that they
can come out of it stronger.'

Tuition Nation,
Straits Times Article 15 Jun 2008
Extract of the article: To cater
to this seemingly insatiable demand, education centre chain
SmartLab Education launched an online service this month. It
now offers students a 'virtual classroom' where they can log
in from home to post questions to teachers on messaging
systems or virtual whiteboards. SmartLab's managing
director Hazel Poa said its aim is to eventually enable
students to get help from tutors at all times. Its online
tuition service costs between $49 and $79 monthly, and
caters to upper secondary and junior college students. The
market rate for private one-on-one home tuition is between
$10 and $150 an hour, depending on the student's level and
the tutor's qualifications. Group tuition classes cost
between $60 and $350 monthly.
