Students would participate annually in the programme through charity work. In 2010, students from SmartLab® Education Private School sold goods from The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (SPCA) and Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). Their sales would help to raise funds for these societies.
The aim of the programme is to have student involvement in the community through extending help to those who are in need through charity work. On 24th January 2010 Sunday, students participated in the Annual Chinese New Year Bazaar held at the Civil Service Club @ Tessensohn. The event was organized to celebrate the upcoming festive season through the sale of merchandise. Students from SmartLab® Education Private School sold goods from The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (SPCA) and Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD). Their sales would help to raise funds for these societies. Students were divided into two groups and would compete in their sales. Preparation of posters for each group was done in between their academic classes during the weekdays. They learn how to work as a team and group bonding was achieved.
They worked hard on the Sunday by marketing the products to potential customers, and persuading them to buy. The two groups of student
were able to raise SGD426 from the sale of items from SPCA and
SPD.
The winning team for the Community Involvement Programme held on 24th January 2010 was given the prize by Mr. Tony Tan,
Chief Executive Officer. SmartLab® Education Private School thanked all the private school students who have actively participated in the event and helped to raise SGD 426 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Society for the Physically Disabled.
