PROGRAMME: Golden Book Enrichment 2009
SCHOOL: Madrasah Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiah
PURPOSE: Prepare the students for the GCE ‘O’ Level examinations
 

In 2009, SmartLab® conducted the Golden Book Enrichment Programme for selected Secondary 4 students of Madrasah Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiah. The purpose of the Programme was to improve the academic performance and confidence of the students for their GCE ‘O’ level exam preparation.

The 1-hour weekly Programme, with a total of 18 sessions each for Mathematics and Chemistry, has benefited at least 40 students from the Madrasah. A few days prior their GCE ‘O’ level Physics, Chemistry and Biology Practical Exams, more than 50 students also attended our laboratory sessions to maintain their laboratory skills and make their final preparations for the GCE ‘O’ level Practical Examinations.

The Programme was well received by the students. From the feedback survey we conducted,
• 100% of them found the study notes we provided useful
• 92% found our notes had helped them understand the topics better, and
• More than 50% of the students graded our teachers full marks with regards to their knowledge of subjects and their lesson preparation

On 20th February 2010, Madrasah students on SmartLab’s enrichment programe who have excelled in their GCE O level examinations were recognized. Awards were held at the Madrasah Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiah School located at 277 Braddell Road during the parents and teachers briefing.

17 students have demonstrated significant academic excellence and improvements. 70% of the students improved by 2 grades or more for Elementary Mathematics. 5 students attained 6 grade improvements for Chemistry and Elementary Mathematics.
