SmartLab was founded in 1999 by a team of returned UK scholars.
It owns 5 centres which 2 are designed for SmartLab Education Private School.
SmartLab Education Private School started in 2005 and was originally named SmartLab Singapore Pte. Ltd. In 2008, the company was renamed SmartLab Education Private School as part of our registration with MOE and Casetrust.
We continue to promote our core belief – Believe in Yourself – and apply the consistent branding that has made us successful in the local tutorial market and international licensing.

Mr Tony Tan, a Singapore Armed Forces scholar with a First Class degree from the University of Cambridge, is one of the original founders of SmartLab Education Private School. He has over 20 years of teaching experience in science from Secondary 3 to Junior College 2, and has helped hundreds of students to achieve their best in academic results, turning many under-performers into high scorers. He is also the key author of all the science notes used in SmartLab.
The Industry-Wide Course Fee Protection Insurance Scheme (IWC) is a group-based insurance policy that ensures the unconsumed course fees paid by students are insured. All private schools must subscribe to the IWC if they wish to collect up to six months of course fees at any one time. The IWC applies to all courses with a course duration of more than one month or 50 hours.
SmartLab appoints Lonpac Insurance Bhd., which is a CPE-appointed service provider, for the Industry-Wide Course Fee Protection Insurance Scheme (IWC). The IWC is a specialty insurance scheme that covers the course fees of all students in the event of insolvency or the regulatory closure of SmartLab Education Private School.
SmartLab has entered into a master insurance agreement between CPE and Lonpac Insurance Bhd. for the purpose of insuring the students. The insurance premium for all students has been absorbed by SmartLab. The period of insurance is from 22/11/2018 to 21/11/2019, with the policy number Z/18/BM01/000841.

Can SmartLab Education Private School register students as private candidates with Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB)?
Yes. O/A Level exam fees are collected by SmartLab Education Private School in cash only, and we will then make the payment to SEAB. Student may register on their own if they wish to.
How much does it cost to register for exams as a private candidate? When is the registration period?
The actual fee will only be released on the SEAB website when it’s open for registration. Students can pay the fees directly to SEAB. SmartLab Education Private School will provide assistance to students during this period.
