|
|
Preparatory course for admission to
government schools is meant for international students
seeking admission to mainstream schools in Singapore noting
that English is the medium of instruction. International
students are strongly encouraged to prepare themselves
before taking the Admissions Exercise for International
Students (AEIS) tests. They should be familiar with the
English and Mathematics syllabi of the level preceding the
one they are applying for.
English and Mathematics Examination Administered by
Singapore’s Ministry of Education
The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is
a centralised admissions exercise conducted by MOE around
September or October each year for new international
students who wish to join Singapore’s mainstream secondary
schools in January of the following year.

International students who are unable to make it for AEIS
and/or are unsuccessful in previous AEIS attempts can take
part in the Supplementary Admissions Exercise for
International Students (S-AEIS) from February to March of
the following year. Successful students can join mainstream

Test Format
|
|
|
|
|
|
English test comprises two parts. Applicants
will be given 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete.
Part 1 Writing
Two topics are set for Sec 1, and four topics are set for
Sec 2 and Sec 3.
Applicants choose one topic and write a composition on it.
• Applicants sitting for Sec 1 will write 200 - 300 words.
• Applicants sitting for Sec 2 will write 250 - 350 words.
• Applicants sitting for Sec 3 will write 300 - 400 words.
Part 2 Comprehension and Language Use
Compulsory Multiple-Choice Questions
• Comprehension (based on two passages) - 15 items
• Comprehension Cloze (based on two passages) - 15 items
• Vocabulary - 10 items
• Grammar - 10 items
Secondary Mathematics test comprises two parts. Applicants
will be given 30 minutes to complete Part 1, and 1 hour and
45 minutes to complete Part 2. The use of calculators is
not allowed.

For short-answer questions, applicants have to show the
method of solution (working steps) clearly and write the

How to Apply

|
1. All Applicants will be given a pre-course
counselling by the Customer Service Officer or Business
Executive and an arrangement to take an online English
Proficiency Test if he/she intends to enrol for a course
with Smartlab Education Private School.

(non-transferable and non-refundable) payable to “Smartlab
Education Private School” for Student Pass (STP)
International applicants.
b) STP applicants need to provide the
necessary documents as follows for student pass application:

4 recent passport-size photographs of
the applicant (against white background)

1 copy of Immigration and Checkpoint
Authority (ICA) e-Form 16 & V36

Photocopy of applicant's passport pages
showing his/ her particulars and travel and travel
document's date of validity (At least 1 year

3. Applicants need to fill in and submit the
Student Application Form. At the time of submission, they
must submit all original certificates and documents for
verification.
4. An application will only be processed
when the Student Application form and all the necessary
documents listed in the course registration document
checklist are furnished.
5. If the Application is approved, a Letter
of Offer will be issued to the Applicant.
6. All successful applicants applying for
full time course are required to obtain a Medical Insurance
policy before signing the Student Contract.
The Medical insurance policy must meet the
following EduTrust stipulated requirements:
-
annual limit not less than S$20,000.00
medical costs coverage per student;
-
at least B2 ward stay (in government and
restructured hospitals); and
-
24 hours coverage in Singapore and
overseas (if student is involved in school-related
activities).
Foreign students are required to take the
medical insurance policy provided by AXA Insurance for
foreign students in SmartLab.
7. If the application is rejected, applicant will be
informed via email and/or be advised on the next course of
action.

Course Fees = $5388.
Fees do not include external examination feesThe AEIS fee
(payable to MOE) is S$672.00 (inclusive of GST). This fee is
strictly non-refundable. Any requests for a refund will not
be considered. Applicants are strongly encouraged to
consider their availability for the test before applying
Medical insurance policy (payable to AXA) is about $150.
