SmartLab® conducted its Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers catering to candidates who are planning for a career switch and took up the course to get ready to teach. There are candidates who are already teachers by profession but took up the course for enrichment as well as to gain accreditation.

Many candidates have commented that the materials in the course are comprehensive and the lecturers are friendly and helpful. Besides lectures, candidates will be engaged in discussions, ideas sharing, presentations and even debates; all in all to generate ideas and sharing of experience for their assignments as well as for their use as teachers.

There are also online supports to help candidates complete their assignments. As module 2 & 3 in the course require the candidates to teach and implement an assessment for learners, practicum could be arranged by SmartLab® for candidates who do not have any present classes. Suitable candidates who had completed the course might even get a chance to be employed as a teacher with SmartLab® or be recruited in its tuition agency department.

SmartLab® is dedicated to help and guide candidates in this course and below are some testimonials from our candidates:

The modules cover all aspects of preparation for a lesson. The extra reading materials provided also gives insight to teaching experiences of other teachers. The learning material handles each section of the assignment, so that it is discussed during the class. The moderators goes through it and gives pointers for improvement.

Pallavi. N. Salvi, 2008

Discussions were carried out during lesson and I have learnt some interesting concepts from every participant. There is also presentation of our session plans to exchange points of views, allowing us to improve on our teaching method / styles.

Lee Ching Min, 2008

Beside the materials given, there are also additional useful articles and information given during the lesson. There are more then sufficient materials, articles and sample assignments to support the assignments. The trainer is very helpful. Please keep up the good work!

Law Wi Liang, 2008

Lessons covered in the modules helped me to plan my sessions systematically by considering learners needs, it also gives me an idea about how to use learning methods and materials properly. Trainer provided all possible guidance during the preparation of assignments. He always ready to help us whenever we have a problem

Nisha V., 2008

There are various group discussions which are useful and I think most topics are relevant. The trainer gave appropriate guidance to me and the modules are well-structured too.

Archana Dubey, 2008

I feel that the lessons covered in module 1 are very helpful in improving our teaching. It is so because the module highlights more on how we should plan & execute our lesson in class. We get an idea how we should deliver our lesson to the learners using various resources. The lessons also help us to realize how an environment can also affect the learning activity. The field visit to observe the conduct of a class is also very helpful to enhance our teaching skills. Our course trainer Mr. Yew Cheong was always there to assist us with the preparation. Anytime we needed his guidance he was ready to help us. We even had the opportunity to present our assignment in front of an external assessor Ms Hazel, she was also very kind to guide us. We even had sample assignments so that we get an idea to prepare our assignment.

Smita Nair, 2008

The lecturer has indeed brought out all the facts right before us. The rest remains for us to implement all that has been learnt.

Gayathri Venkatesh, 2008

In the closing ceremony for the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers 2008, participating certificates were given to the candidates by Mr Tony Tan, founder and CEO of SmartLab Education Group after a buffet dinner. Mr Tony Tan shared with candidates the importance of assessment for learning, and ways at which teachers/tutors can help motivate learners by listening to them.

From the feedbacks gathered, all candidates agreed that adequate guidance were provided during the course, and the trainers have helped bring out the best of themselves. The wide range of resources provided like learning CD-ROMs, website, notes and articles, and the group discussions and sharing sessions were useful and beneficial.

The lessons and discussions may have end fast but the knowledge and experience gained throughout the course will remain useful and be used for benefiting the learners.

“I thank SmartLab for coming up with such a resourceful DTT course. It’s one of my dream come true, finally to become a teacher. If not for the modules and lessons handled so beautifully and patiently by my trainer Mr. Yew Cheong, it would have still remained a dream. He really inspired me, his teaching style is well too good to be imitated. Kudos to Mr. Tony Tan and Mr. Yew Cheong! The secret to my success.”

Year 2007

SmartLab® conducted its Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers catering to teachers and trainers in the tutorial industry.

During the training, candidates get to sit in classes of various teachers and evaluate the various teaching styles of teachers. Candidates enjoy the opportunity of sharing the difficulties they faced their teaching and share the good practice that are adopted while teaching the learners.

In the course, I have learnt the different approaches to teaching and how to cater to the different needs of the students, how to help students if they learn topics in different sequence in school and how to help slower learners so that they can follow the class.

Chiew Ho, 2007

To summarise, this module (referring to module 2 on practice) has given me opportunities for learning for both the students and for myself. It has helped me to become a more effective teacher.

Pei Shan, 2007

It has helped me gain more knowledge particularly learning stules and strategies to become more effective teacher.

Marlene C Torres, 2007

I am able to understand the needs of the students better. In a tuition class, normally it consists of students of different learning pace and different topics covered in schools. Hence some of the methods taught in this course are useful for me to apply in the future.

Jacqueline, 2007
